Ok so it is my first day into training and do I:
A) Find a gym
B) Go buy a bike
C) Find a personal trainer
D) None of the above
Why D) none of the above, of course! No instead I spend my day finishing setting up the blog, the twitter, the Picasa web album and all other things that will be needed on this journey between now and the end point of that sunny manor house in France, but that aren’t going to greatly help me get on my bike and get fit!
I am starting to consider my sanity as, the nice little count down clock (Which I can see myself growing to hate) is telling me its only 191 days til I set off on this crazy journey and my mind is still telling me ‘But you don’t even have a bike yet, just how does one plan to get there?’ Think a visit to my local bike superstore may be in order tonight.
I haven’t been completely useless though I have researched the kind of bike I need. Now I admit it started off all as gobbled gook… gear types and sizes and what nots, honestly give me a nice pair of stilettos instead any day! But I finally worked it all out and I believe it’s a Hybrid bike that I shall need, please feel free to correct me if I have that completely wrong, it wouldn’t surprise me!
But aside from the lack of bike standing in the way, I feel I have made a good start so far, the site and the blog are all looking good and the numerous people I have all sent links to, to check it for me, have all come back with positive responses, (positivity towards the site not my obsessiveness of sending them links).
I also found this very cute picture of me when I was younger (I am the one with the bright ginger hair). I am guess from the very wonderful puffer jacket and colourful leggings, this is the early 90’s and I am about 8 or 9… and yes this probably really is the last time I rode a bike. Now you can see how big a challenge this is actually going to be for me!
I already have a big thank you to say aswell, I would like to thank the cameraman who is joining me on this crazy adventure. His name is Dan. Already he is keeping me motivated and during those nine days of cycling he is going to be my only company. He is also creating an amazing documentary along the way, so just in case one day I can forget the pain I went through I will have a DVD to remind myself all over again! Dan’s day job obviously isn’t normally cycling to different countries, to be honest he is probably just as bad as I am on a bike, he actual owns his own Video production company called Blue-Vortex. Hence the amazing documentary he is making. There will be a YouTube account set up so little clips of the documentary can be shown along the way. You will be able to access these at our site. www.virginmoneygiving.com/r2rchallenge
